José Luís Pereira holds a PhD in Information Systems and Technology and an MSc in Information Systems Management from the University of Minho (UMinho). Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Information Systems Department, of UMinho Engineering School, where he has been teaching, among other subjects, courses in Databases, Business Intelligence and Simulation, to graduate and undergraduate students in several IT/IS and engineering degrees. Formerly, he has been Adjunct-Director of undergraduate studies in Business Informatics and Information Systems and Technology, and Director of the Master in Information Systems Engineering and Management. As a researcher, he is a member of the ISTTOS group of the IST line in the ALGORITMI Research Centre, working in the Simulation, Business Process Management (BPM) and Big Data fields, with specific interests in Organizational Decision Support, Business Process
Improvement and Big Data solutions. He has been serving in the Program Committees of several conferences, national and international. He is part of the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Web Portals (IJWP) and the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Information Systems Engineering & Management. He is a co-organizer of the workshop “Emerging Trends and Challenges in Business Process Management (ETCBPM)” which is associated with the World Conference on Information Systems and Technology (WorldCIST). He has published several papers in international conferences and journals.
